Kristina and Jimmy’s romantic Washington DC Elopement this May was stunning and so fun to help plan with them!
We explored all around Washington DC and were able to see so many jaw-dropping places that turned into the most incredible images. We started early in the morning at the iconic Line Hotel while Kristina and Jimmy sipped on coffee, got ready for the day, and played with their cat for a bit before we did an intimate first look in the hotel suite. Before leaving for our first location we took photos on the iconic front steps of the Line Hotel with its beautiful columns and unique green doors.
Romantic First Dance At The Washington National Cathedral
Kristina and Jimmy wanted a European feel for some of their photos. Right away, I knew the Washington National Cathedral was going to be the perfect vibe they had been imagining. The architecture of this cathedral is magnificent and feels like you just stepped into a modern-day fairytale. We even decided to do their first dance in the magical courtyard. It was such a sweet and romantic morning In DC for their elopement.
Intimate Elopement Ceremony In Washington DC
Once we got all the photos at the cathedral we called a Lyft to take us to our ceremony location. The Smithsonian Castle Garden’s lighting was just *chef’s kiss* this day as we made our way to the Moongate for the ceremony. We set up Kristina and Jimmy’s GoPro to record their ceremony on video. They were so sweet and truly in the moment together as they exchanged their vows and self-officiated their ceremony.
Yep, you heard that right. It is legal and SO easy to self-officiate your own wedding or elopement. This is so awesome because if you are dreaming have had an intimate elopement without anyone else there, Washington DC is the place to do it! It’s a super simple process that starts with applying for your marriage license. Then you have some paperwork to fill out and send back to the courthouse.
