Jessica and Miguel’s romantic engagement session was spent enjoying some of their favorite places in Washington DC. They had originally wanted to elope in DC, but they had a very short time frame before they moved out of state. Instead, they opted for DC engagement photos with an outfit change into “wedding-like attire” and are planning a small wedding in their new home in Utah with their family. You can check out their DC engagement photos below!

Jessica and Miguel’s engagement session was a bright, sunny Thursday morning in March. They arrived with Jessica’s mother, who helped carry their second outfits. They were such a blast to work with! I used the metro to get into DC, and I enjoyed a nice morning walk from the Smithsonian Metro stop all the way down the National Mall to the Lincoln Memorial.
We explored the Lincoln Memorial out on the front steps and in the columns getting those iconic DC views of the Washington Monument down by the Reflecting Pool. The sun came up over the Washington Monument, so they were beautifully backlit through the trees! Isn’t it beautiful?
If you want to plan your engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial, get more specific tips (such as what permits you need and what you should wear) for this engagement location here.
We walked along the National Mall toward the Washington Monument to find some Cherry Blossoms. The Cherry Blossoms Festival in DC is famous and brings people from around the world! Most people go to the Tidal Basin, which is a good place to see the blossoms, but I don’t recommend going there if you want to stay away from the crowds. Instead, you can take DC engagement photos with the blossoms along the National Mall. This will help you feel more relaxed for those romantic engagement photos amongst the Cherry Blossoms.
We called an Uber to drive us to the National Gallery of Art which opens at 10 am. Jessica really wanted photos with the Impressionism paintings, so we headed there first before they changed into their wedding-like attire. Then, we explored the museum – taking in the art, cuddling on the couches, and wandering the atriums. Can you imagine yourself walking through this elegant museum with your significant other?

“Working with Juliana was a dream! She communicated with us every step of the way to make our vision a reality. We had a tight timeline, and Juliana made it happen without cutting any corners. She provided so many resources; we felt guided the entire way. On the day of the photos, Juliana helped us feel comfortable taking pictures in public. Neither of us are very comfortable in front of the camera, but none if it felt awkward or forced. We are in love with the pictures! We will cherish them for years to come. I would highly recommend Juliana Wall Photography for any couple looking for a photographer.”
