Eloping is one of the greatest adventures you’ll ever take. Getting to choose to ditch the rulebook and craft a wedding day that is 100% about you is amazing! And if you’re thinking about eloping in Baltimore, you’re in for something incredible. This city is packed with history, character, and stunning backdrops that make for an unforgettable elopement experience.
Here, you can exchange your vows by the water at the Inner Harbor, wander the cobblestone streets of Fells Point hand-in-hand, or sneak away to a quiet garden in Mount Vernon. Whether you love the energy of the city or want a peaceful green space tucked away from the crowds, Baltimore gives you options!
Your elopement day should be whatever you want it to be. No expectations. No stress. Just a wedding day that’s built around your love story. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know to plan your Baltimore elopement!

How to Legally Elope in Baltimore
To legally elope in Baltimore, you’ll need to get a Maryland marriage license from the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office in the county where you plan to get married. If you’re tying the knot in Baltimore City, you’ll need to apply through the Baltimore City Circuit Court. There’s a 48-hour waiting period after you get your license before you can say your “I do’s.”
You’ll also need an officiant for your Baltimore elopement. It can be a judge, a religious official, or a clerk of the court. Whoever you choose, they’ll need to sign your marriage license to make your elopement legit. However, you do not need any witnesses, so that makes the process a bit simpler!
Fun fact: I am a legal officiant in the state of Maryland! So, if you want to keep your Baltimore elopement truly private and personal, I can sign your marriage license as the officiant, and your ceremony will simply be more about exchanging private vows and rings together. However, if you want to hire a professional officiant, I have wonderful vendor recommendations.

Baltimore Elopement Locations
Baltimore is packed with incredible elopement locations, whether you are after a romantic waterfront view, historic vibes, or a natural setting for outdoorsy adventurers. These are some of my favorite Baltimore elopement locations!
Fells Point
If you’re dreaming of a waterfront elopement with historic charm, Fells Point is the place to be. The cobblestone streets, brick buildings, and sweeping harbor views make it a gorgeous spot for elopements. I particularly love the pier at sunrise! And after your vows, you could take a stroll along the waterfront or grab a bite at one of the charming local cafes!

Rawlings Conservatory
Rawlings Conservatory in Baltimore is an amazing elopement location if you’d like a tropical vibe without leaving the city. The Conservatory offers a dreamy greenhouse setting filled with exotic plants and beautiful architecture.
Here, you can have an intimate elopement or rent one of the on-site venues for your wedding day for up to 100 people. Elopement packages start at $300 for a weekday elopement, but you can learn more about the rates and options here. The Conservatory requires a photography permit, but that’s something I’d absolutely help you take care of as your Baltimore elopement photographer.

Cylburn Mansion
For a mix of history and nature, Cylburn Mansion is a Victorian-era estate with gorgeous gardens, tree-lined paths, and indoor and outdoor ceremony options. Whether you want a garden ceremony or an intimate indoor vow exchange, this spot gives you timeless, romantic vibes.
If you’d like to book Cylburn Mansion, you can email the rental team or call 410-396-4860.
George Peabody Library
If you’re a fellow book lover, George Peabody Library is THE place for stunning elopement photos. With the large, elegant bookshelves and overall gorgeous architecture, you can see why it’s ranked as one of the most beautiful libraries in the world!
Unfortunately, the Library doesn’t allow elopements per se. If you want to have your ceremony here, it only allows weddings with catered receptions. But don’t let it stop you from having your ceremony elsewhere and coming here for your elopement portraits! You will need to get a permit to visit the library only for your photos, however, that’s something I’ll help you take care of as your photographer!

Walters Art Museum
The Walters Art Museum offers a sophisticated and artistic space for your elopement photos. The grand hallways, marble staircases, and priceless works of art make it a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your special day.
At the moment, the museum doesn’t allow facility rentals. However, you can still come here to take photos! The entrance to the museum is free of charge, but it can get busy, so I definitely recommend coming here earlier in the day to avoid crowds.

The Butterfly Room
If you’re looking for a modern and moody space, The Butterfly Room is an industrial warehouse-turned-wedding venue with high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and a cool artistic vibe. You can really make this space your own with cool decor and florals, but it’s also really edgy without needing to do a lot!
Federal Hill Park
For some of the best views of Baltimore’s skyline, Federal Hill Park is the spot. Perched on a hill overlooking the Inner Harbor, this park gives you a mix of city vibes and open green space. It’s close to some of Baltimore’s best restaurants, so you can easily transition into a celebratory brunch or dinner!
To elope in Federal Hill Park, you’ll need to apply for a permit. Their elopement package is $250 for 2 hours and up to 50 guests. You can learn more about their permit process and regulations here.

Woodberry Kitchen
If you’re all about good food, warm ambiance, and a relaxed yet stylish setting, Woodberry Kitchen is an amazing option. This farm-to-table restaurant hosts intimate weddings for up to 65 guests, making it great for couples who want a micro-wedding with incredible locally sourced food. It can also host larger events of up to 150 people. Check out their wedding options here!
Gramercy Mansion (The Carriage House)
If you’d like to have an intimate garden wedding or elopement in Baltimore, the charming Carriage House is a beautiful option! It has got a charming courtyard, gardens filled with seasonal flowers, and a secluded, romantic feel. If you’re looking for a venue that feels elegant but not over-the-top, this one is it!

Patterson Park Pagoda
Patterson Park is a wonderful park in the city that has beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces for your elopement ceremony and photos! The Pagoda is a beautifully restored tower that sits in the middle of the park, surrounded by landscaped gardens and open green space.
If you’d like to elope here, you’ll need to apply for a permit!

The Maryland Zoo
Yep, you can elope at The Maryland Zoo—and honestly, how fun is that? If you’re an animal lover, this is an unforgettable way to tie the knot, with options for animal encounters and unique ceremony spots throughout the zoo. Plus, your wedding fees help support wildlife conservation!
You can learn all about their elopement packages here!
Mt. Vernon Square
Mount Vernon Square is one of Baltimore’s most picturesque neighborhoods, with cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and gorgeous city views. The Washington Monument at the center of the square makes for an iconic backdrop, and the surrounding area is packed with beautiful spots for photos. If you want a city elopement that feels classic and romantic, this is an amazing choice.
Baltimore Elopement Permits
While I did mention some of the permit requirements above, you may need to do some additional research, especially if I didn’t mention a location you had your eyes on. You can learn more about elopement permits here! However, if you choose me as your Baltimore elopement photographer, I will absolutely help you figure that out!
